History of the City Gynecological Hospital of Minsk

“From the beginnings to the present”

On March 14, 1973, by order No. 31, the Minsk city health department announced the opening of the 8th city hospital in Minsk on the basis of the TB dispensary No. 3. It consisted of 125 beds, an anesthesiology department, and a clinical laboratory.Фото 1

The main goal of the hospital was to train a professional team, improve the quality of medical care, create a friendly climate and indifference to someone else's misfortune.

On May 1, 1973, the 3rd antenatal clinic was transferred to the hospital (then it was at the 4th city hospital).

April 23, 1980 (by permission of the Ministry of Health of the USSR of January 30, 1980 and the order of the Minister of Health of the BSSR of February 13, 1980 No. 39) Minsk City Hospital No. 8 reorganized into a specialized gynecological hospital with an individual staffing table by order of the USSR Ministry of Health (No. 02 - 6/263 - 6 of 12/29/1979). In addition, intensive care and resuscitation beds are being deployed, and laboratory services are being expanded. Фото 2

1986 - 1987 became the foundational years for the practice of the hospital, -  endoscopic methods of diagnosis and treatment began to be introduced and developed, methods of treating cervical pathology are being widely introduced.

This was the first experience of widespread use of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy in gynecological practice in Belarus. Фото 3 min

In July 2001, a completely new operation and resuscitation building of the city gynecological hospital was put into operation, built on behalf of the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko. The head of state attended the opening ceremony.

In the same year, a city center for operative gynecology and endosurgery was organized on the basis of the gynecological hospital, which provided qualified, highly specialized gynecological care to patients using high-cost medical technologies. Фото 4

In order to improve the accessibility of endoscopic and operational care, in 2002, a restructuring was carried out and a paid department of endoscopic surgery for 10 beds was allocated, which provided planned surgical care to patients not only in the city of Minsk , but also the whole republic.

July 9, 2004, by order (No. 447) of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the full name of the hospital was approved - “City Gynecological Hospital”.

In 2008, after reconstruction, a modern five-story ward building of the hospital was put into operation, and the hospital deployed 200 gynecological beds with a resuscitation and intensive care unit for 7 beds. Work continues to improve the provision of medical care to the female population of the capital.

Since 2010, the hospital has been headed by Bich Alexander Ilyich and a new stage in the re-equipment of the hospital with modern equipment begins, due to the moral and physical wear and tear of the old - ultrasound machines of high and middle class, laparoscopic and hysteroscopic racks of a new generation, modern laboratory equipment, major and cosmetic repairs are carried out in the departments. From year to year, the number of treated patients and surgical interventions is increasing. In the same year, a laparoscopic operation was introduced to apply a salpingo-salpingoanastomosis on a stent to restore the patency of the fallopian tubes under hysteroscopy control. In 2010, for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, work began on the introduction of laparoscopic sacrovaginopexy using a mesh allograft and has been successfully used to this day.

Since 2011, some reorganization of the hospital bed fund has been carried out and a full-fledged admissions department has been opened, on the basis of which 5 outpatient surgery beds of the One Day Surgery type are being opened.

In 2015, for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, the hospital introduced modern medical technology - laparoscopic operations with single-port access, which was carried out as part of the republican project of the NGO BRYU "100 Ideas for Belarus" .

Since April 1, 2015, for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, the City Center for the Treatment of Endometriosis has been established in the City Gynecological Hospital, the main function of which is to provide specialized consultative, diagnostic, therapeutic, organizational and methodological assistance to healthcare institutions in Minsk for the treatment of patients with endometriosis or suspected endometriosis, which is one of the leading causes of female infertility. The ongoing work allows to restore the reproductive health of women and makes a significant contribution to improving the demographic security of the Republic of Belarus. Laparoscopic high-tech operations for severe infiltrative forms of endometriosis (excision of endometriosis of the rectosigmoid section with reconstruction of the large intestine, resection of the bladder with restoration of their integrity, excision of the affected section of the ureter with the restoration of patency - a multidisciplinary team is working, consisting of gynecologists, a surgeon and a urologist).

In 2017, the “Major overhaul with the modernization of the operational and resuscitation unit and the storm sewer system with the improvement of the adjacent territory” was completed.

In 2019, for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, a new operation was introduced - laparoscopic cerclage for miscarriage (the operation is performed both outside and during pregnancy).

In 2020, for the first time in the Republic of Belarus, a defect in the scar on the uterus was corrected after a caesarean section by laparoscopic access, and in 2021, the ectopic part of the ureter was transplanted into the bladder ( laparoscopic operation of Untz).

Today, our hospital is the avant-garde and trendsetter in gynecological practice in Minsk.Фото 5

Ensuring such a volume of work would be impossible without the dedicated work of a small but very stable team of highly qualified employees, including doctors, nurses and nurses.
